About Our Company

"Necessity is the mother of invention, and disabling diseases or accidents create plenty of opportunities for innovation."

Our Founder

Suteki Designs was established in 2014 by Creighton Rider, a designer and inventor with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Utah.

Creighton courageously faced a diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), sometimes known as Lou Gehrig's disease, for 16 years. The products that we produce at Suteki Designs are a result of his creatively finding solutions to the needs caused by this disease and his determination to continue living his life.

Creighton passed away in April of 2023 and we, his family, continue to produce these devices as a compassion project in memory of our loving father. We hope that our products may be helpful to you or your friends or loved ones.

Understanding Dropped Head Syndrome

Many people suffer from neck dysfunction known as Dropped Head Syndrome. It is characterized by severe weakness of the muscles in the back of the neck, causing the chin to rest on the chest when standing or sitting.

Floppy Head Syndrome and Head Ptosis are other names used to describe this condition. Most of the time, Dropped Head Syndrome is caused by a specific generalized neuromuscular diagnosis. These include:

  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Myasthenia Gravis
  • Polymyositis
  • Genetic Myopathies
  • Motor Neuron Disease

Other causes can include hypothyroidism, disorders of the spine, and cancer. The result of this neck dysfunction is poor head control, which significantly impacts quality of life.

How Can We Help?

Please remember we are a small family project, not a medical device company, here simply to pass on the legacy of our father by hoping to help you.
